Power of the Woods Camp Weekends
Connection – Inspiration – Community
We are delighted to announce that, after months of hard work and planning of many people involved, we have been successful in our application for a grant from Awards for All (Big Lottery community funding) for our newest project ‘Power of the Woods’ at our site in Devon. You can find the exact location on Google maps by searching ‘PowerWood Camp Tawstock’.
Thank you so much for your enthusiasm showed by the many emails and reactions in much higher numbers than we ever expected within such a short time. Following everyone’s feedback, we have now finalisedthe Power of the Woods forest school dates and pricing (see below). Please don’t delay, this event has already attracted a lot of interest and we would hate for you to miss out on a place!

Welcome to the Tribe
Join our community of families living with intensity, super-sensitivity and hyper-reactivity, to build confidence, resilience and have fun in the forest! This will be a place where we can meet during the year to learn skills, play outdoors and connect in nature.
You and your children will be spending time together in nature learning woodcraft skills such as building fires, building dens, outdoor cooking, whittling and carving. You will also be able to take part in seasonal craft activities such as clay modelling (using clay dug from our site) and making a variety of creations from natural materials such as leaves, twigs and feathers. Together we will make a meal over the fire to share at lunchtime.
During the day, there will be opportunities for parents to take part in workshops with Simone de Hoogh. However, you are very welcome to stay with your children and get involved in the activities they are engaged in. Often our children find it hard to be separated from us, especially in new environments, and it is important that they feel supported by you if they (and the whole family) are to make the most of this wonderful experience. As they become more comfortable they may be happy for you move away, but this is likely to be part of a gradual process that works best if they are allowed to take it at their own pace.
All families involved will be offered support by Simone de Hoogh as part of the project to provide strategies for managing everyday situations, to signpost you to further help, and to assess the impact of the Power of the Woods activities on your family.
Please don’t let your financial situation stop you from coming. The price mentioned is reflecting the real costs. However we received funding from The Big Lottery fund to trial these Power of the Woods days.
We are very grateful to the Big Lottery Fund as they allow us during this trial to just ask you to let us know what you can financially contribute based on your personal circumstances. While booking your place please tick the box offline payment and let us know what you could financially contribute per weekend.
It is also possible to spread the cost over several months by setting up a Direct Debit with PowerWood, just tick the box offline payment mentioning ‘Direct Debit’ and we will get back to you.
